What made you decide to start a website for your life coaching services?
The internet is a wonderful tool. It is
now THE medium for effective communication across the world. A
web site therefor becomes your calling card and is your landing
platform for all those interested in you as well as the browsers
looking for someone like you. Some see it is the most most effective
marketing tool available. Although I do not entirely disagree
I believe it should be seen as a platform rather than the only
tool available.
Where do you most tend to find people who need help with life
coaching? Offline or online?
At present off line. But I have only really begun to explore
the online possibilities.
Do you have a favorite website you like to use for inspiration?
No favourite. I am an explorer and look at everything and anything!
JOHN McCall talks about how he became a life coach: “It’s funny, I had never thought of Life Coaching as an option for improving the quality of my life. In fact I had never heard of Life Coaching at all until just over a year ago. In terms of my own circumstances I found myself in a place of complete change as far as my life was concerned. I had recently retired after 30 years in a career. I had set up my own business from scratch and had got to a break even point within two years. My life was full albeit very stressful. However with all the stresses and strains my 32 year marriage was severely affected and as a consequence I found myself separated. Divorce proceedings followed and as a consequence the business was sold. Along with the house, the car and the flat that we had mortgaged for holiday letting. “I needed to get out of the village that I was living in and somehow get my life back on track. I moved back to an area I had been in some 20 years before, found a little flat and sat looking out the window wondering where it had all gone wrong and what was I going to do with my life now. “These circumstances are not much different from many circumstances in life we can find ourselves in. We can reach a stage in life when we question our own happiness. We can find ourselves just been made redundant. We can find ourselves on our own for whatever reason. We can question what our lives are all about. Or we can find ourselves wanting something else out of life but just don’t know what it is. “In business terms maybe we cannot see the wood for the trees. Staff development programmes are not working for you. The business needs to develop. Change needs to be managed. “All of the above are familiar to many of us. So what can we do? Well here’s what happened to me. “I was sitting in the Oyster bar in Grand Central station in New York. I got talking to this woman who was sitting at the bar reading her book. The chat centred around the events of 9/11 and her own survival story during that tragic day. Our conversation shared our experiences and at the time when I was about to leave she suggested that I read the book that she was reading. The book is significant to me but not necessarily significant to this story. (The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolly ) “The book led me to other books and conversations with other people. Some I knew, some I did not know. However I met one individual who enlightened me with regard to Life coaching and what it had done for her and how it had changed her life in such a positive fashion. I was so impressed by her change in attitude to life and herself that I began my own research and then my own life coaching experience. I was so impressed by the results that I became a professional life coach myself. “So what is it? Well a coach is a coach. Just like a football coach or a tennis coach or a golf coach. A coach shows the way in terms of technique. A coach motivates and encourages. A coach analyses. A coach guides and stimulates the mindset of the individual. A life coach coaches individuals in improving whatever it is they want to improve in their life. The starting point is where they are now in their lives and continues to a point in where they want to be. “It changed my life maybe it could change yours.”...
