Do you ever test a new song with
fans online before you record it for an album?
I have not had the opportunity to do so really in the form of a
"test", but I can relate to the question. As of now, I
have not recorded or released an album. Typically, the way I write
is introspectively and luckily I haven't had any adverse reactions
to the songs I have released to the cultural phenomenon of...myspace.
I have some tracks on other sites too, but I feel like most of my
following was generated on myspace. I wouldn't be opposed to letting
the fans hear certain tunes that we may not publically release on
an album, but I don't think we will have much trouble deciding what
to record and release when we're ready :)
How is the FanBridge service you
use to keep in touch with fans?
What's fanbridge? Just kidding. To be
quite honest, I don't use fanbridge. Maybe I should. We are actually
recording next month so maybe I will blast an email out and
give everyone a heads up!
What are your favorite social networks or music online sites? Why?
Right now I would have to say Linked
In and maybe Facebook. I don't use either very often and I actually
have to re-activate my facebook account, but I feel like most of
the sites out there have too much "spam" and they aren't
geared for professionals. Not to say that there aren't plenty of
great people out there or that the sites I am NOT mentioning are
insignificant. There are plenty of promotional sites out there for
artists and social networking for relatively anyone, but I think
the best tool is to just reach out on a level playing field and
talk to people about everyday affairs. Music is MY life, but not
always theirs. It's rather boring to discuss topics that not everyone
can relate to. At least when I write a song, I can discuss matters
that most of the general population have encountered in their life
and they find it comforting that I can express that.
