How many online stores do you sell your music?
There are several different
online stores on which my music can be found. Physical CDs are
sold on CDBaby, Amazon, Femme Metal Store, CDFreedom, and CDUniverse.
CDs (along with other merchandise) can also be bought from the
official webstore at my website. Digital albums and tracks can
be purchased at iTunes, eMusic, Napster, Rhapsody, AmazonMp3,
Tradebit, GreatIndieMusic, CDBaby, CDFreedom, Lala, and more is
coming soon so stay tuned:)
Which online stores do you tend
to sell most of your music?
CDBaby has been a wonderful
seller for my album, "Poet", and hopefully will continue
to be for subsequent albums. In fact, "Poet" was placed
in CDBaby's top 40 selling albums for the New Age: Alternative/Progressive
Category. It's also been in CDBaby's top 80 selling albums in
the Celtic Rock category.
The Femme Metal Webstore based out of Great Britain also recently
sold out of their inventory of "Poet." Time to send
them new stock. :)
As far as digital downloads go, iTunes, eMusic, and Napster have
been the top 3 sellers. "Poet" was also given a 5 out
of 5 rating on eMusic which is pretty cool.
I'm currently working on my second album and definitly plan to
expand a little more with this next one:)
How effective is it to have a
street team?
Very effective. Obviously I'm
only one person and it is impossible for me to be in every place,
every state, continent, etc at once!
Having a street team alleviates a lot of stress on the artist's
end and also encourages fan participation, which is also a good
thing.
Having a street team allows the artist to get their foot in the
door at clubs/concert venues, music stores, etc by having street
team members/fans encourage the artist in the area.
It's a marketing and advertisement tool bands/musicians/artists
can definitly use. Some of the promo materials we use are fliers,
postcards, posters, sampler CDs, website banners and we have some
more ideas for promo items in mind.
Street Team members being rewarded for their hard work always
helps. Examples can include discounts on merchandise, chances
to obtain some smaller merchandise items free, and more.
A link to my street team's myspace (recently set up) is www.myspace.com/tiffanyapanstreetteam
but you can also join by facebook and Yahoo Groups. It's up to
you. :) The links to the latter two can also be found on the street
team's myspace.
