Filmmaker João Paulo Simões Documentaries : Raising Awareness

Officially Plugged In’s João Paulo Simões has created some awareness documentaries over the years. One in particular caught my attention due to the nature of the content; ticks. It has been specifically written and designed to raise awareness about Borreliosis, which is also known as Lyme Disease and can be contracted by the mere bite of a tick. My middle son had a case of Lyme Disease from a tick bite on his collarbone. We were fortunate enough to find out and treat it before the symptoms progressed past the fever, stiff neck, and sickness he experienced. Some are not so fortunate and awareness still needs to be raised about this as each year the same battle is waged against ticks and the diseases they carry. Here are the videos about the documentary…

João Paulo Simões has a new documentary he is working on called The Signal and it’s about Ménière’s Disease. Again, it’s to help raise awareness. Ménière’s Disease is a disorder of the inner ear, with no visible symptoms but with extremely debilitating and disabling consequences to the sufferers – as they endure severe dizziness, tinnitus, hearing loss and a feeling of pressure in the ear.

The Signal is a 50 minute-long docudrama, set to enter production in June 2011 and to be shot mainly in the North of England, employing digital technologies. To find out more about The Signal, visit here.
