Amanda Wyss started her career as a teenager on a local LA theater stage. From there she transitioned to television and film roles. During her career, Amanda has been featured in such hits as, “Better Off Dead”, “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and most famously in “Nightmare on Elm Street”. Amanda continues to work as an actress and makes occasional convention appearances throughout the country. We recently caught up with Amanda to discuss her career.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mandy: Why did you become an actress? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Amanda:<\/strong> I knew from a very young age that I loved creating characters. I used to write and direct little plays and make the neighborhood kids perform them with me. I was hooked from the first time I walked out on our little backyard stage. <\/p>\n

Mandy: If you weren’t an actress, what other profession could you see yourself in? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Amanda:<\/strong> A secret agent or an interior decorator.<\/p>\n

Mandy: You have been in some iconic 80’s movies (Nightmare on Elm Street, Better Off Dead, FastTimes at Ridgemont High), are you surprised at how they have stood the test of time? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Amanda: <\/strong>Yes, of course. I don’t think you ever know while you are filming something how it will be received.<\/p>\n

Mandy: You are the first person killed on screen by Freddie Kreuger, that’s a pretty awesome credit to have, are you proud of that role? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Amanda:<\/strong> I’m proud to be a part of an iconic horror film.<\/p>\n

\"\"Mandy: Do you have a favorite role of yours, if so, which one and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amanda:<\/strong> Rabbit in Powwow Highway. It’s a great story and a really fun character to play.<\/p>\n

Mandy: You have done several conventions, and will be appearing at HorrorHound the weekend of Sept. 7th-9th, do you enjoy doing conventions and your interactions with fans? Any weird\/memorable experiences?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amanda:<\/strong> It is always an adventure to meet with people that have enjoyed something I’ve been a part of. I have to say I haven’t had anything too out out of the ordinary happen yet…but I’ve only been to a few. So there’ still time. LOL<\/p>\n

Mandy: Would you like to write or direct?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amanda:<\/strong> I would like to direct.<\/p>\n

Mandy: You’ve worked in television and movies, do you have preference?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amanda:<\/strong> I think television has more opportunities for women my age.<\/p>\n

Mandy: You’ve had a long career in Hollywood as a working actress, which is rare, any advice for somebody starting out in the business?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amanda:<\/strong> Do it because you love it. Not because you expect something from it.<\/p>\n

Mandy: Any upcoming projects you can tell us about?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amanda: <\/strong>There is a new horror film that I may be doing in October. And a pilot that we plan to shoot in New Mexico. Fingers crossed they both work out!!!<\/p>\n
