Callum Andrew Johnston, born July
1991, has always had a keen interest in film, which led him to study
the industry at Ifield Community College. Since finishing his studies,
Callum has worked hard creating two micro budget features RH11 &
Little District. Callum also directed a short film about extremism
called Crossed Paths at 19. 'Crossed paths' has been selected for
the finals at the Film the House competition ran by MP's across
the UK. The final will be held at the House of Commons on the 31st
October 2012.
Little District was
premièred at Cannes film festival May 2012, which inspired
Callum for further success. After completing his most recent screenplay
(Forbidden Freedom) which highlights the racial tensions in the
Muslim community Callum was asked about why he felt it was necessary
for him to write this kind of story, he simply answered; “If
all these different races and religions can live together in this
life, then why can't we all live together in the next?”...
Callum has another 2 short films and a feature
to direct in 2012/13. “I started my film career very young,
and I’m blessed to have discovered what I wanted to do with
my life from early on, I’m forever dreaming and working
hard to try and cement myself in the film industry”.
